He's best known for inventing a toy, the Super Soaker water gun, but Dr. Lonnie Johnson is a bonafide rocket scientist with a serious mission: to ensure the world has enough energy for a prosperous future. Now, he's working to develop ceramic solid-state batteries that can power the Internet of Things; lithium-air batteries that can push electric vehicles to 1,000 miles on a single charge; and the JTEC heat engine, an invention that an energy expert at the National Science Foundation called "possibly the greatest on Earth."
